What. VideoMask is an Xtra for Director that lets you apply masking effects to live video.

Why. The ability to connect a camera to a computer and display the live feed is becoming common, and with that ability there is an opportunity to add a few effects, the most common effect is that of chroma keying or "blue screen" and also more elaborate background removal, to isolate the foreground objects and place them into a separate environment

How.
The Xtra lets you view the live video on stage or as a cast member,on th3e Mac the source can be any video camera connected to the video port ,firewire ,USB or any video input, on Windows a VFW compatible camera is required. You can then specify the parameters for the creation of a mask; colors to be included, colors to be excluded, background removal. The mask can be improved by closing holes,growing/shrinking or creating an outline. Different display parameters can be assigned to the mask and the background, each can be assigned a solid color, a cast member, a reference frame, or the live video.
